Clark Hearsey commenced on 1 October 2010, the result of a management buyout of the Louth office of a local accountancy firm.

We recognised that as a market town Louth had its own unique client base and felt that by breaking away from the larger office we could better serve those businesses.

Clark Hearsey is the largest independent qualified accountancy practice in Louth. There is no legal definition of the term accountant so anybody can call themselves one. Many lenders will not lend without accounts prepared by an accountant with a recognised qualification. Both partners in Clark Hearsey are Chartered Certified Accountants.

We tailor the services we provide to each client on an individual basis. Some see us once a year for the preparation of the accounts. Others like to keep in regular contact either to seek our advice and guidance on matters such as bookkeeping, VAT and payroll. Some ask us to look after everything so they can concentrate on actually running their business.

We recognise that things change within businesses. A new member of staff who can take in-house some of the tasks we have been performing. At other times we may be asked to take on additional tasks, even if just for a period, such as maternity cover.

Many people are happy completing their own personal tax return until they find they need to declare something a little more complex. We are happy to do one year's return and then let clients do their own again. We do find some find it such a relief not to have to worry about it they let us carry on!

Primarily, we aim to make things as cost-effective as possible. For example, we are now looking at cloud computing for clients who would like to do their own bookkeeping with the "safety net" of us being able to keep an eye on it throughout the year and give them guidance, rather than waiting until the year end.
